The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company, better known as Disney, is an American multinational mass media and entertainment corporation that was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney. The company was first called the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio where it established itself as a leader in the American animation industry prior to expanding into live-action production and theme parks. As the company also operated under the names The Walt Disney Studio and Walt Disney Productions, it’s been called The Walt Disney Company since 1986. The company expanded its existing operations and started divisions focused in theater, music, radio, publishing, and online media.

Its Media Networks include a variety of broadcast, cable, radio, publishing and digital businesses in two divisions – the Disney/ABC Television Group and ESPN Inc.
