Games London is a new project that supports, grows, and promotes the games and interactive entertainment industry in the UK capital.
The program is funded by the Mayor of London’s London Enterprise Panel (LEP), UK games industry trade body The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie), and the capital’s strategic agency for film and media, Film London.
The three-year program will support the Video Games Tax Relief (VGTR), which was introduced in 2014. With hopes to attract additional investment to the UK and support businesses in the capital generate £35 million in new revenue. It will also aim to boost skills, training, and creating hundreds of jobs.
Planned activities of the program include:
-An annual London Games Festival to showcase and celebrate the industry’s big cultural and economic impact. The first show will take place in April 2016.
-An international B2B networking event to attract top investment to the UK
-Training and skills initiatives
-Inbound and outbound trade missions to bring awareness to the tax relief and sector overseas
