HTC

HTC Corporation (better known as HTC) is a Taiwanese consumer electronics company headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. HTC was founded in 1997 by Cher Wang and Peter Chou as an original design manufacturer and equipment manufacturer for devices including mobile phones and tablets. In 1998, HTC began designing some of the first touch and hand-held devices in the world. It was credited with creating the first Android smartphone in 2002 and first Microsoft 3G phone in 2005.

HTC shifted to marketing its own devices, starting with the HTC One series. In 2011, the company was ranked as the 98th top brand on Interbrand’s Best Global Brands report. In 2016, it expanded into virtual reality hardware and released HTC Vive. The virtual reality headset is designed to use “room scale” technology to turn a room into a 3D space via sensors allowing people to navigate using motion tracked handheld controllers to manipulate objects and interacting with precision
