During spring and summer break, kids and parents flock to the best-known amusement parks, from Disney World to Universal Studios. But, have you ever heard of Everland? Efteling, or Tivoli Gardens? I didn’t think so. While these theme parks may be less popular, they certainly aren’t any less fun. If you want to shout from the top of a roller coaster this summer without having to navigate the crowds, take a look at these lesser-known theme parks, instead.

1. Everland

A name like “Everland“ inspires scenes of adventure and pastoral gardens, which isn’t far off. Located just south of Seoul, South Korea, this amusement park is home to roller coasters like the “T Express,” pandas and tigers, VR adventures, and more. While the park is suitable for children, adults love it more for its many sights and perhaps even more for its lack of costumed characters. Tickets are $50, but you can ask about foreigner visiting discounts that come around often.

2. Efteling

If you’re a fantasy enthusiast, you can’t miss this fairytale located in the Netherlands. Efteling, monikered, “The World of Wonders,” is open 365 days a year and is hidden in the middle of nature. Take a ride on the dive coaster, explore the cursed villa, or take a boat ride through the park. Tickets are a steal, at around only $45.

Are you thinking about taking a summer break and visiting some theme parks? Why not avoid the tourist-heavy attractions like Disneyland in favor of these three parks that will provide not only a fun and entertaining experience but a chance to see other countries as well.

Tivoli Gardens

The second-oldest amusement park in the world, the Tivoli Gardens are tucked away in Klampenborg, Denmark. Even Walt Disney favored the gardens, according to Visit Copenhagen. The site also divulges that, “Part of the Tivoli Gardens’ secret is that there is something for everyone.” And, it’s true. Whether you love a good ballet, Ferris wheel, or unforgettable meal, the Tivoli Gardens is ready to exceed your expectations. Tickets are sold in ride and summer packages at various levels and prices.

Even if you have a soft spot for Mickey Mouse, no one wants to be elbowed in a crowd while waiting for Space Mountain. Instead of zig-zagging through tourist-heavy getaways, check out one of these three lesser-known but equally enticing theme parks.
