You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Life’s a beach,” to describe an idyllic, blissful situation. But have you ever stumbled upon a beach that was polluted, overcrowded, or noisy? It’s safe to say that not all beaches are equal. Before booking your next beach getaway, make sure it’s to one of America’s best beaches of 2018.
1. Clearwater Beach, Florida
Tampa, the self-proclaimed “reigning champion for sand and sunshine,” has reclaimed its 2016 title as the United States’ best beach. While the spotlight is on the beach itself, the Clearwater area is also home to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, popular nightlife spots, and spring training facilities for both soccer and baseball, making the beach one stop on a well-rounded getaway. 2. Siesta Beach, Florida
Florida wins again with Siesta Beach located in Siesta Key. Known for its pure, white sand, easy parking, and quaint resorts nearby, the beach easily hit number two on TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards. Locals claim you have to squeeze in time for a bit of all-natural, authentic Italian gelato at All Roads Lead to Rome.
3. Ka’anapali Beach, Hawaii
If you’re looking for a real island getaway, Hawaii is the place to go. But not just any beach was named the third best beach in the country—Ka’anapali Beach, was. Unlike the pristine white sands of many Florida beaches, this beach has warm, golden sand to sink your toes into. Spot whales offshore, take a beginning surfer’s course, or just sit back and enjoy the sun.
4. South Beach, Florida
South Beach in Miami, Florida, rounds off the list of top four beaches in America. The beach is surrounded by art-deco architecture and a wild nightlife, so it’s perfect for college students. But while the beach is entertaining, some visitors warn of pricey tours and hotels nearby, so it’s best to keep a watchful eye.
Like any vacation spot, beaches can be a dream or a dud. But, choose one of 2018’s top four beaches in America, and you’ll have nothing to regret but a sunburn.
